By improving tissue movement, joints and muscles can function more efficiently.
Cupping Therapy & Treatments

Improve Circulation. Reduce Tension. Support Recovery.
Cupping therapy is a hands on recovery treatment that helps improve blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and support tissue health. By creating gentle suction on the skin, cupping lifts the tissue and encourages circulation in areas that feel tight, sore, or restricted.
This therapy is often used when muscles feel heavy, stiff, or slow to recover. The goal is to improve tissue quality so movement feels easier and less restricted.
How Cupping Therapy Works
Cupping therapy uses specialized cups placed on the skin to create negative pressure. This gentle suction lifts the tissue layers, allowing blood and fluids to move more freely through the area.
Improved circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients while supporting the removal of waste products. This process can reduce muscle tension and support faster recovery.
Cups are placed strategically based on movement limitations and areas of discomfort.

Why Tissue Restriction Leads to Discomfort
Over time, muscles and connective tissue can become restricted due to stress, repetitive movement, or lack of mobility. These restrictions can limit range of motion and contribute to pain.
Cupping therapy helps:
- Improve blood flow to tight tissue
- Reduce muscle stiffness
- Improve mobility and flexibility
- Support recovery after activity
- Decrease localized discomfort
Common Reasons Patients Choose Cupping
Cupping therapy is used for a wide range of soft tissue concerns. It is especially helpful for areas that feel chronically tight or slow to loosen.
Common treatment areas include:
- Upper back and shoulders
- Neck tension
- Low back stiffness
- Hips and glutes
- Hamstrings and calves
Treatment is always adjusted based on individual needs and tolerance.

SIGNS CHIROPRACTIC CARE CAN HELP
Back pain is more than just an annoyance. Left untreated, it can get worse and limit your quality of life. If you experience these symptoms, it is time to take action.

Persistent Back Pain
Ongoing discomfort that limits sitting, standing, or daily function.

Frequent Headaches
Tension and misalignment can contribute to recurring headaches or migraines.

Limited Mobility
Trouble bending, twisting, or reaching comfortably.

Postural Fatigue
Discomfort from long hours at a desk or on your feet.

Cupping as Part of a Complete Care Plan
Cupping therapy works best when combined with movement focused care. While it helps improve tissue quality, lasting results depend on how the body moves afterward.
At Rehab Lab Wisconsin, cupping is often paired with:
- Chiropractic care
- Corrective exercises
- Dry needling
- Graston Technique
- Blood flow restriction training
This integrated approach helps tissues respond better and stay more adaptable over time.
What Makes Cupping Therapy Unique
Cupping therapy is non-invasive and does not rely on medication. Treatment intensity can be adjusted to keep sessions comfortable while still effective.
Some temporary marks may appear after treatment. These are not bruises and typically fade within a few days. Many patients report feeling looser and more mobile shortly after sessions.
The therapy is efficient and easy to incorporate into a care plan.

Simple and Focused Treatment
During your session, cups are placed on targeted areas and left in position or gently moved depending on your needs. Sessions are calm and controlled.
Sensation is usually described as a deep stretch or pulling feeling rather than pain. Your provider will monitor comfort throughout the session and make adjustments as needed.
After treatment, light movement or hydration may be recommended to support recovery.
When Cupping Therapy May Be a Good Fit
Cupping therapy may be helpful if you experience:
- Ongoing muscle tightness
- Limited flexibility
- Stiffness after activity or long workdays
- Slow recovery between workouts
- Discomfort that improves with movement
Addressing tissue restriction early can help prevent larger movement issues.
