Sports medicine clinic

A clinic built around getting athletes and active people back to the thing they love, with the gym space and the testing to prove you are ready.

Locations

Rehab Lab is a sports medicine clinic with locations in Wauwatosa and Appleton, Wisconsin. We assess how you move under load, treat the injury hands-on, and rebuild the strength and control that stop it recurring, rather than resting you until the pain fades and sending you back to the same problem.

What makes it a sports medicine clinic rather than a chiropractic office that sees athletes is the second half: treatment space and gym space in the same building, objective force testing, and a return-to-play decision based on a number instead of how it feels.

What this covers

Sports medicine clinic services

The services most often used in our sports medicine work, all available at both clinics:

Why a clinic and not just a treatment room

Most musculoskeletal injuries are not solved on a table. The table work, the adjustment and the soft-tissue release, restores the motion that was lost. What determines whether you stay fixed is whether the tissue can then tolerate the load your sport puts through it, and that is a training problem, not a treatment problem.

So the clinic is laid out for both. You get treated, then you load the area under supervision in the same visit, and the programming progresses week to week as the testing says you are ready. A clinic that can only do the first half has to hand you off for the second, which is where most rehabilitation quietly stops.

What we see most, and when in the year

Autumn brings the contact injuries and the hamstring and groin strains that come from sprinting on tired legs late in a football season. Winter is hockey hips and groins, wrestling necks and shoulders, and the ice-related falls that are not sport at all. Spring is the overuse wave: shins, Achilles tendons and hip flexors on people who went from a Wisconsin winter to four runs a week in a fortnight.

Summer is throwing volume and lake sports. The common thread across all of it is a sudden change in load rather than a single bad movement, which is why the first question we ask is almost always about what changed in your training, not about what hurts.

How this differs from our other categories

This page is about the facility and the model. If you want the clinician credential behind it, that is our sports medicine physician page. If your problem is persistent pain rather than a sports injury, pain management is the better fit. If you are rebuilding after surgery or a long layoff, start with physical rehabilitation.

They overlap in practice, because most plans draw on more than one. You do not need to pick correctly before booking. The assessment decides.

Sports medicine clinic questions

Common questions about sports medicine clinic

Do I need to be a competitive athlete to come here?

No, and most of our patients are not. The sports medicine model simply means we assess movement and rebuild capacity, which is as useful for a desk worker with a stiff hip as for a varsity athlete. The approach does not change with the level of competition.

What makes a sports medicine clinic different from a regular chiropractor?

The rehabilitation half, and the space to do it. A conventional chiropractic visit ends with the adjustment. Here the adjustment opens up motion and then you load it, in the gym space, with the programming progressing as the testing allows. That is why our plans end rather than repeat.

How do you decide when I can return to sport?

With objective force and movement testing comparing your injured side against the healthy one, not with a conversation about how it feels. A limb can feel normal while remaining meaningfully weaker, and that gap is a known reinjury risk.

Can you treat me in-season without stopping me playing?

Usually, yes, and most of our in-season work is exactly that. The plan shifts toward keeping you competing safely while we treat the cause, with the heavier corrective work moved to the off-season. We will say plainly when an injury genuinely means sitting out.

Do you work with my coach or athletic trainer?

Yes, and the outcome is better when we do. Tell us who is involved and we will share the findings, the testing numbers and the loading plan, so you are not getting contradictory instructions from two directions.

Which clinic should I go to?

Whichever is closer. Both Wauwatosa and Appleton have the full range of services and equipment, including shockwave, Class IV laser and force-plate testing, so proximity is the only consideration.

Ready to fix the cause, for good?

Book at our Wauwatosa or Appleton clinic and get a real plan from a doctor who treats the cause, not just the symptom.
